SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
Hello Friends! We have so much to share with you in our September Newsletter. You will find further information concerning our 2025 Fundraiser, an introduction to the Prayer Partners from Fiat Integrative Health, the unveiling of our chapel, and more! We hope you are enjoying the lower humidity and the slow down that the fall season often brings with it.

Please consider becoming a sponsor for our 2025 Fundraiser. Our sponsors make it possible for everyone to attend. Financial gifts to the Heart of Mary House are extremely important, but the most important work that we all can do is to build up the Kingdom of God and invite everyone to the table to share in His blessings!
The fundraiser does not cost anything to attend, but reservations are necessary! Better yet, reserve a table for 8 and bring your friends and family, coworkers or Church family!
New this year is our Patron Party, which will begin at 5pm in the same location as the fundraiser. Tickets are $100 each. Details can be found here. Only 80 tickets will be sold, so get them while you can :)
If you have an item to donate to our silent auction, you can enter your information here.
And lastly, click here to volunteer at the event or to help with set up and clean up.
We are really looking forward to spend a heartfelt and informative evening with you all. Email kimderrick@heartofmaryhouse.net if you have any questions concerning the fundraiser.

Fiat Prayer Partners
At Fiat Integrative Health in Franklin Tennessee, they offer intercessory prayer for their staff and their patients. Sometimes this means people come into the chapel and they bring their needs to the Holy Spirit in prayer together, and sometimes it means they take text messages or requests of any kind and offer them at masses, or in their rosary, or divine mercy chaplet.

Shawn is a nurse at Vanderbilt and recently earned her certification in spiritual direction. Although some of her background is in deliverance ministry, she is looking forward to gaining more people who need spiritual direction with her new passion.

Meg and Shawn both have several years of teaching and forming youth and adults in the Catholic Faith, but mostly, both of them have a passion for intercessory prayer and see greater and greater need for healing and forgiveness. Their friendship with Heart of Mary House came because the founder of Fiat, Caroline Hartley, and Kim Derrick, founder of HOMH, became closer as friends over their common and rare missions of stepping out in faith to lead something that had not been done before, and began their missions with very little other than a stir of the Holy Spirit to meet a need they recognized in the community around them. Caroline felt in her spirit that joining to help serve the mission of HOMH would be a nice way to assist in an outreach as part of their mission to serve. Shawn, being on the board of Heart of Mary House, was already familiar with the mission and workings of serving those in the end stages of life with love and accompaniment. She instantly responded to Caroline's call for her and Meg to go and pitch in at HOMH. Shawn and Meg scheduled their first visit and got their footing to see the needs of the people who were being served as residents in the home. They figured their role was to pray with the residents. Many of them were not Catholic or open (at least at the moment) to being prayed over, so they did their best to bring food or chat with the staff. After this initial visit, Shawn felt the Holy Spirit lay on her heart that they were not going for the residents necessarily, as much as they were going to care for the needs of the staff. The staff at HOMH give their entire selves to the organization. They pour put physically, mentally and spiritually to the residents they care for each day. The staff had been noticing some spiritual combat, which often accompanies someone in the end stages of life. They were feeling slightly discouraged and worn down and Meg and Shawn quickly noticed that they could help encourage and pray with them.
Meg and Shawn come each month and often bring one of the Fiat counselors as well. These visits are something the staff at HOMH look forward to and the outcome is one of peace and hope.

September 8 is the Feast of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is also the eve of our organization's 3rd birthday. The Chapel will serve as our gift to Our Lady on Her birthday and in return, it will be Her gift to us on ours. Together, with Our Lady, we will honor Our Lord and adore Him in the Blessed Sacrament as He pours out His love and mercy onto us. We know the chapel will serve as a place of refuge and stir peace and hope in the hearts of all who abide in it.

Caregiver Assistants
We are actively seeking volunteer caregiver assistants! This is an absolutely vital role at the Heart of Mary house and has recently become even more vital as we have added a fourth resident. Caregiver assistants are the difference between being able to house 3 residents versus 4 and will be a deciding factor on taking the house to its capacity with 6 residents. If you are interested in committing to a reoccurring weekly time slot, please email us and know that this would be a truly invaluable service! You can sign up to be a volunteer on our website using the link below:
