CAREGIVER

Paid member of staff (unless a volunteer is willing and able to step into this role)

Reports to the House Manager

8 hour shifts: 6a-2p, 2p-10p, 10p-6a

These times can often be adjusted as needed

Responsible for the following:

  • Medication administration
  • Personal care of residents
  • Meals/snacks/nourishment
  • Documentation of resident status and care
  • Oversees the caregiver assistant and general volunteers
  • ‘Runs the house’……. just as a family member would do while caring for their loved one at home.

VOLUNTEER CAREGIVER ASSISTANT

Prefer volunteers in this role, but we will also supplement with paid staff when necessary

Reports to the Caregiver on duty

Shift times are just whenever the assistant is available. Typically the hours are anywhere between 8a-8p. Our preference is that the assistant is scheduled on a regular basis in order to stay up to date on house happenings, etc…

Responsible for the following:

  • Assist with personal care of the residents
  • Assist with meal prep and feeding residents
  • Oversee the general volunteers present in the home
  • Other household duties as needed

GENERAL VOLUNTEER

“The most important assistance is “loving presence” at the bedside of the dying person… this caring attention gives confidence and Hope to the patient and makes him feel reconciled to death. This is the unique contribution which doctors and nurses(any human), by there being human and Christian – more than by their expertise – can and should make to the dying person, so that rejection becomes acceptance, and anguish gives way to hope.”
